CRY. LAUGH. RESIST. REPEAT.

MISSION:

In response to the political shit show of the past year and the near future, actress/playwright Alyson Croft (Dallas, Trancers, Lincoln Heights, On Fifth & Spring) and artist/screenwriter Ehron Asher (Island of Last Resort), have formed The Hollywood Progressive Comedy Resistance.

On Martin Luther King Day (MONDAY, JANUARY 16), we are gathering a diverse group of progressive stand-up comics to offer their post-election/pre-inauguration thoughts and observations on the State of the Union, along side musical performances and a quick guide to how to survive the next 4 years without going insane.

The mission of this event is to bring together those of us still struggling to make sense of the current reality — so that in solidarity and laughter, we might feel slightly less shitty than when we arrived.

ANGELO MOORE
Lead singer, saxophonist, and creative force behind the legendary band, FISHBONE. Fishbone’s ability to blend social commentary and humor with a blazing fusion of rock, punk, funk, jazz, ska, reggae, gospel and R&B led to their recognition as one of the most notable acts in American music. Angelo has additionally collaborated with the likes of Little Richard, Curtis Mayfield, George Clinton, Rick James and Spike Lee to name but a few.

Angelo also performs under the guise of his wildly energetic alter ego, Dr. Madd Vibe. Linking poetry, performance and music, this visceral artist’s solo performances range from pure spoken word and movement to playing the Theremin and various saxophones as well as reciting poetry accompanied by the Dr. Madd Vibe Aukestra. Stemming from his experiences growing up as a “fly in the buttermilk” in the predominantly white suburbs of Los Angeles, Angelo Moore addresses “Real Racism,” “Social Corrosion,” “Spiritual Overtones,” “Family Affairs,” “Personal Satisfactions and Suffocations” and the human condition in a world gone mad.

Angelo and Melique Berger will be performing songs from one of Angelo’s latest projects, Angelo Moore & The Brand New Step and their album “Centuries Of Heat”.
